Claude Howell

Claude Anthony “Tony” Howell, 65, of South Point, passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at the Hospice of Huntington. The Ashland native was born Sept. 5, 1949, a son of the late Claude W. and Jean Stevens Howell. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Anita Schoener Howell, whom he married Oct. 6, 1984.

Mr. Howell was a 1967 graduate of Raceland High School and attended ACC for one year. He was a retired carpenter from Ashland Construction and later self-employed. He was a member of the Chemical Atomic Workers Union, where he served as Union Steward and served on the Safety and Improvement Committees. He was also the recording secretary for several terms. Mr. Howell enjoyed music, guitar, computer technology and books.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Howell.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Ashley Jean Howell and Chelsea Anne Howell both of Kenova, West Virginia; a sister, Claudia Jean (Mike) Burdette of Flatwoods, Kentucky; and three brothers, Larry (Jeanne) Howell of Ashland, Terry Howell of Catlettsburg, Kentucky and Dan Howell of Worthington, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. John S. Street Jr. officiating. Eloise Davis

Eloise S. Davis of Proctorville, wife of Charles Davis, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at home. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Etheleen Workman

Etheleen Jo Workman, 90, of Abington, Maryland, formerly of Huntington, West Virginia, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 at home. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. There will be no visitation. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements. Annabelle Kiser

Annabelle Kiser, 95, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Kentucky. The Elliott County, Kentucky, native was born Jan. 24, 1920, a daughter of the late Charles and Nancy Ferguson Fraley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Noah W. Kiser, who passed away Jan. 18, 1991.

Mrs. Kiser attended school in Cranston, Kentucky, was a homemaker and a member of the Ohio Valley United Baptist Church at Wheelersburg. She enjoyed quilting and volunteered with the Greenup Hospice Quilters that donate their work to the Community Hospice in Ashland.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Joe Kiser; three brothers, Jack Fraley, Aubrey Fraley and Monroe Fraley; and two sisters, Blanche Caudill and Ruth Decker.

She is survived by four daughters, Nancy (Larry) Browning of Kitts Hill, Judy (George) Roe of Rincon, Georgia, Lois (Ronald) Murray of Ohio Furnace, and Kay (Mike) Blackburn of Sciotoville; one son, Jeffery (Donna) Kiser of Ohio Furnace; daughter-in-law, Sue Kiser of Wheelersburg; 11 grandchildren, Cassi Humphrey, Alesia Baker, Tommy Roe, Chad Roe, Jason Murray, Mike Murray, Stephanie Blackburn, Chris Blackburn, Naamann Blackburn, Sarah Kiser, and Katie Kiser; 16 great grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family of Mrs. Kiser would like to thank Jo-Lin Nursing Home and their staff for the quality care and all they have done for the past two years.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, with Elder Larry Salyers and Elder Clayton Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Junior Furnace Cemetery.
