LUCASVILLE — The recent snowstorm kept some players from getting to practice and that kept the Rock Hill Redwomen from getting some conditioning.

However, it didn’t stop them from getting a win.

Using a strong team effort, the Redwomen breezed past the Adena Lady Warriors 55-36 on Thursday in the Division III sectional tournament at Valley High School.

“We were a little winded, but I guess everyone was in the same boat,” said Rock Hill coach Greg Damron.

“We jumped on them the first quarter and got points from everyone. It was a great team effort. I was proud of them. It was pretty impressive considering we haven’t practiced much.”

Kaci Russell had a game-high 19 points and five steals to lead the Redwomen (9-14) who won their fourth in a row.

Anna Darby had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Madison Damron was 3-of-4 from behind the 3-point arc as she scored 12 points.

“We got some good play from Anna and Madison and, of course, Kaci did her usual thing,” said coach Damron.

“Defensively we were able to press and turn them over and then we stayed under 10 turnovers which was big. I’m happy with our effort. I’m happy to get four wins in a row. It’s been a long time since we’ve won four in a row.”

Rock Hill took an 18-12 first quarter lead and made it 32-21 at the half.

The Redwomen got their second wind at halftime and outscored the Warriors 15-6 in the third quarter to lead 47-27.

The backups finished the fourth quarter as Adena outscored Rock Hill 9-8.

The Redwomen will play Eastern Brown at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the sectional finals at Lucasville Valley High School.

Adena finished the season 0-23.
