Norman Heffner

Aug 5, 1930 — Feb. 23, 2015

Norman Heffner, 84, of Chesapeake, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 at home.  He was born Aug. 5, 1930 in Chesapeake, son of the late Helen Gertrude Suiter and Sidney Heffner.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by Lois Booth, Joan Williams, Mary Miller and Bernard Heffner.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years “The love of his life” Haney Russell Heffner; six children, Karen Heffner, David (Susie) Heffner, Vickey Heffner, Steve (Teresa) Heffner, Edward (Angie) Heffner and Gary (Susie) Heffner all of Chesapeake; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy (Mary) Heffner, Jason Heffner, Kayla Heffner, Jonathan Heffner, Kyle Heffner, Helen Grace Heffner, Brandon Heffner, Ashley Heffner, Andrew Heffner and  Samantha Heffner; one great grandchild Natalie Heffner; three sisters Jewel Mazzone of Chesapeake, Carol Heffner of Huntington, West Virginia and Linda Heffner of Huntington, West Virginia; one brother, Roy Heffner of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews.  He attended Sybene Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Chesapeake American Legion.  He was the retired owner of Heffner Excavating. Funeral service will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville by Pastor D.L. Webb of Sybene Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery, Chesapeake, Ohio.  Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

 

 

James Harbolt

James “Jim” Harbolt, 49, of Ironton, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 in Taveres, Florida.  Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

 

 

Geraldine Bowman

Geraldine Faye Bowman, 88, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center, Huntington, West Virginia. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Miller Cemetery, Miller, Ohio by pastor Brady Lipscomb. Burial will follow. Delores Short

Delores Kozee D.O. M Short, 75, of Willard, Kentucky, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at the Community Hospice Care Center. She is urvived by her husband, Willard Short. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Visitation for family and friends will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Delores Hatfield

Dolores Jean Hatfield, 74, of Proctorville, died Wednesday Feb. 25, 2015 at Wyngate at RiversEdge, Proctorville. She is survived by her husband, Jackie D. Hatfield. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at noon at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by Pastor Ronnie Tyree.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Milton, West Virginia. Mary Dement

Mary Dement, 92 a resident of Fairborn, formerly of Ironton, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015 at home following a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mary and Walter Roberts who resided in Seaman, where she grew up.  She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Berkley F. Dement.  She is survived by her daughters, Frances Shields of Aiken, South Carolina, Carla (Cathie) Osborne of Dayton, Delores (Dodie) Leibecke of Columbus; her granddaughter, Debbie Douglas of Fairborn, whom she shared a residence in recent years.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews all of whom meant so much to her.

Having moved to Ironton from Seaman as a very young woman, she was employed by the Dayton Malleable Ironton Division. She retired with 30 years of service in 1976 and relocated to Bellbrook in 1977 to be closer to family members.  She was a member of the Bellbrook Community Church.

Mary was an especially gentle, kind and loving woman who will be terribly missed by her family and friends.

A private service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

 

 

Betty Burchett

James Mineer

Feb. 11, 1965 — Feb. 19, 2015

James Robert Mineer Jr., 50, of Ironton, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015 at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born Feb. 11, 1965 in Ashland, a son of James Robert Mineer Sr. of Kentucky and Rosa Lee Caudill of Argillite, Kentucky. He was preceeded in death by a grandson, Weston Timothy Michael Mineer. Jim was a contractor and mechanic, a graduate of East Carter High School, a member of First Baptist Church of Ironton and a regular attendee of New Day Disciples Motorcycle Ministry. He is survived by his wife, Bobi Keation Mineer; his children, Michael David Mineer of Ironton, Allison Marie Young of Grayson, Kentucky, Tabitha Shae’ Young of Louisville, Kentucky, Brandon Wesley Mineer of Kentucky and Stephanie Hettinger of Lucasville; a sister, Sheila Mineer of Cannonsburg, Kentucky; and 10 grandchildren, Paeson Avery Joe Mineer, Autumn, Bella and Caleb Young, Keiona, Jaxson and Taylor Young and Lila, Marissa and Mark Rideout. Funeral services will be Friday at 6 p.m. at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Pastors Eric Barnes, Tony Schneider and Terry Wagner officiating. Charles Miller

Charles Edgar Miller, 78, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Grayson’s Caring Hands, Huntington, West Virginia. There will be no services. Bubbles Lipe

July 22, 1933-Feb. 24, 2015

Leah “Bubbles” Mootz Lipe, widow of Larry G. Lipe and daughter of the late Arch and Esther Mootz, passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, where she worked for 18 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Lari Gaye Zachariah and son, LaMonte Lipe, both of Pensacola; granddaughter, Dayna and grandson Dylon Zachariah; two sisters, Patsy Parson of Manassas, Virginia and Ann (Gene) Payne of Ironton; and many nieces and nephews.
