HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — On April 11, the Tri-State Comic Con will enter its fourth year of bringing the best the comic industry has to offer to West Virginia. This year, however, organizers have pulled out all the stops and announced a guest lineup that goes above and beyond any other comic show in the region.

They say their most recent announcements have included Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night, Squidder), Cory Smith (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Paul Allor (Guardians of the Galaxy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and many others. This line up has already roused area comic enthusiasts, but a recent reveal has created more buzz.

“We’re very happy to announce that Jewel City Championship Wrestling will be presenting pro-wrestler Diamond Dallas Page,” said Eric Watkins, co-founder of The Tri-State Comic Con. “This has been a great addition to the lineup. DDP is an incredible talent, as well as a great person.”

Now in its fourth year, Tricon has become the largest comic-centered show in West Virginia. Though it still remains a one-day show, it has been recognized for gaining the participation of the best and most active creators in the comic community. While these attractions bring people through the door, the show’s primary interest is to help shine a spotlight on independent creators in the region.

“We love indie comic creators because that’s where we got our start,” said James Maddox, co-founder of the convention. “While fans show up for the world of large publishing, the small press provides surprises and advances in new ideas that keep readers happy.”

This year the convention is introducing another new feature in the form of exclusive variant covers to titles like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (IDW), ’68 (Image) and Eccentrix (Broken Icon Comics). While TMNT and Eccentrix will feature convention guests Tommy Patterson and Justin Stewart, respectively, the cover for ’68 includes an appearance from the convention co-founders as zombies. These covers are exclusive to the show and won’t be available anywhere else.

The Tri-State Comic Con will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in downtown Huntington.

General admission is $10. VIP passes will be available for $25 and will include early access to the show. For more information and updates on general admission, dealers, artists, guests, and panels, visit www.tristatecon.net.
