Beatrice Stuckey

Beatrice (Derifield) Stuckey, 84, of Orrville, died Monday, March 9, 2015, in Westerville, where she has resided since November.

Bea was born on March 11, 1930, in Rock Camp, to the late Charles and Mary (Kitchen) Derifield, and graduated from Coal Grove High School, class of 1947. She married Vernon Lee Stuckey on Nov. 29, 1952, in Orrville, where she made her home. Vernon died on Feb. 28, 2013.

Bea was a faithful and dedicated member of Augsburg Lutheran Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed painting, following her grandsons’ activities and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving are her daughter, Denise (David) Stuckey-Xander of Westerville; three grandsons, Jeremy Xander of Westerville, Peter Xander of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Mark Xander of Westerville; and two brothers, David Derifield of Ironton, and James Derifield of Ashland, Kentucky.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Chester, Dewey, Charles and Ronnie; and sisters, Evelyn, Gladys, and Mabel.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Augsburg Lutheran Church, 140 West Water Street, Orrville, with Rev. John Furno officiating. Burial will take place at Paradise Cemetery near Smithville.

Friends may call on Saturday at Augsburg Lutheran Church from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is handling the arrangements. Online registry and expressions of condolence may be made at the funeral home’s web site at www.aublefuneralhome.com.

Hazel Townsend

Hazel Louise Townsend of Willow Wood, died Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia. She was born Dec. 10 in Ironton, a daughter of the late Frank Kerns and Goldie Aldridge Kerns.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John William Townsend, Sr.; a son, Military Spec 4 Michael Townsend; three sisters, Minnie Mae Arden, Mary Frances “Pete” Besco and Mildred Vernon Mannon; and two brothers, Dorman “Bud” Kerns and Frank “Punk” Kerns.

Survivors include her children, Goldie Fay Stapleton, John William (Lynn) Townsend, Jr., Jimmy (Patty) Townsend, Paul Ray (Angie) Townsend, Doris Jean (Mark) Sparks, Charlie Townsend, Judy (Johnny Spears) Sharp, and Betty Jo (Michael) Russell; two sisters, Sharon Mays and Gertrude “Bean” Carmon; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Jim Kearns officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery, Kitts Hill. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.

 

 

Gregory Henry

Gregory Allen Henry, 53, of South Point, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland. Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hanging Rock. Visitation will be from 1-3p.m. Sunday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point.

 

 

Juanita D. Brown

Juanita D. Collins-Brown, 93, of Raceland, Kentucky, died on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Funeral services will be held at the Grace United Methodist Church 195 Caroline Road, Raceland, at noon Saturday. Loleta McComas

Loleta Francis McComas, 89, of Lavalette, West Virginia, formerly of Miller, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Amy Smith, 63, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. John McKenzie

John Delbert McKenzie, 87, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Greenup County, Kentucky native was born Oct. 11, 1927, the son of the late John and Tisha Bowen McKenzie. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pauline Faye Joseph McKenzie, whom he married May 5, 1949.

Mr. McKenzie was a graduate of Hanging Rock High School and a former employee for Semet-Solvay/Allied Chemical in the maintenance department, retiring after 37 years. He was a longtime member of the Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed camping, fishing and playing horseshoes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Stapleton; two brothers, Lee McKenzie and Vernon McKenzie

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Linda K. (Charlie) Meadows of Ironton and Angela Christine Willis of Chesapeake; a son, Johnny Ray (Brenda) McKenzie of Huntington, West Virginia; seven grandchildren, Tracey Wilds, Tammy Leadingham, Latisha Abenoja, Seth McKenzie, Brooke McKenzie, Josh Fields, and Danielle Fields; a brother, Paul (Sandy) McKenzie of Marion; a sister, Louise (Charles) Lambert of Lakeland, Florida; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 South Sixth Street, Ironton, with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery and visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
