Kettering Alter wins D2 state crown

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Emma Bockrath had 21 points as top-ranked Kettering Archbishop Alter won its second Division II title with a 57-42 win against Toledo Start on Saturday at Ohio State’s Value City Arena.

Maddie Bazelak had eight points in the third quarter when Alter (30-0) went from a five-point lead to a 43-34 advantage heading to the fourth quarter.

Rogers (24-6) quickly fell behind by 12 to start the fourth and never challenged.

Bazelak had 12 points and Braxtin Miller added 11 points for Alter.

The Knights rebounded from losing the 2014 title game to Millersburg West Holmes. Their previous title was in 2008.

Rogers, in its first title game appearance, was led by Sydney Petty with 11 points and eight rebounds.
