Hotel makes great venue for community

Ironton aLive and the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce co-sponsored the Business After Hours last Thursday and plan to do many more together.

Chamber director Shirley Dyer and myself, acting director of Ironton aLive, were very pleased with the great turnout hosted by the new Holiday Inn Express and Suites.

What a beautiful inn. The first thing you notice as you walk into the building is the bright, spacious lobby and the adjacent, multi-use breakfast area. This is a perfect venue for such an event. The guests were impressed with the good taste of the decor, great food by Catering With Joy and comfortable seating.

It all made for great conversation and networking among the attendees. Such a hotel has been much needed in the Ironton community for many years and kudos to those who worked for years to make it a reality.

The hotel is great but the person who was sent to us to manage the facility is as great as the hotel. Hotel manager Melissa Butterworth has joined our community and brings with her the positive attitude you would expect to find only in a lifelong resident.

Working with her to plan this event was a real pleasure. Melissa opened the space up to us for the evening and self-guided tours were enjoyed by everyone.

On behalf of Melissa, Shirley and myself, thanks to all who took time from his or her evening just prior to a busy Easter weekend. We will soon announce a location and date for the next Ironton business after hours.

The Ironton business community is alive and moving forward. Join us and help us grow.
