Paul Fyffe

Paul Eddie Fyffe, 61, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. The Ironton, native was born March 17, 1954, a son of the late Ray and Mable M. Murnahan Fyffe. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Connie Russell Fyffe, whom he married Nov. 1, 1975.

Paul attended Rock Hill High School and was a former employee of the city of Ironton, retiring in 2014. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, trustee and a former usher. He was very active with the Boy Scouts Troop 106.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Dallas (Annie) Fyffe, Bob Fyffe and Bill (Karen) Fyffe; two sisters, Wilma Walters and Linda Dodson; and a brother-in-law, Arthur Mosley

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Shelley R. (Eric) Stone, of Coal Grove; two grandchildren, Thaddeus Stone and Karlee Stone; a sister, Mary Ann (Paul) Shope, of Ironton; sisters-in-law, Frances Mosley, of Pedro, Trish (Joe) Shilling, of Portsmouth, and Michelle (Randy) Malone, of Pedro; brothers-in-law, Doug Dodson, of Hanging Rock, and Paul Walter, of Marion, Richard Russell, of Ironton, and Michael (Betty) Russell, of Pedro; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

Jessica Roach

Jessica Annette Roach, adored daughter of parents Jim Roach and Julie Pace Kazee and stepparents Deborah Roach and David Kazee, love of Stephen Fisher, mother of Jesse Roach-Fisher and Katlyn Roach-Fisher, mother-in-law to Cory Mannon, memaw of Victoria and Cloud Roach-Fisher, sister of Isaiah Roach (wife Christina) and Joseph Pace, granddaughter of Margaret Hall-Smith, departed on her last and greatest journey March 31, 2015, to know and be known in God’s presence.

She cherished her family. Always willing to speak her piece and ready with her radiant smile, she looked for the good in everyone she met. She enjoyed cooking, camping and canoeing. She was a strong person and touched the lives of those dear to her.

Jessica attended Southwestern High School and graduated from Marshall University with a degree in hospitality and culinary arts.

John Huffman

John Frank Huffman, 83, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Huffman was born Aug. 30, 1931, in Ironton, a son of the late Frank, Jr. and Roma Kiser Huffman.

John was a life member of the American Legion Post 76 in Ashland, LaSociete 40&8 of Paris, France, VFW Post 8850 Ironton, MOC 007-Kuto, The Philippines, AmVets CH9 Taiwan China. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE 1771 Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and The Moose Lodge 804 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was also a Kentucky colonel.

John retired from production planning with over 43 years of service at Armco Steel Company. John served his county proudly with the United States Air Force and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland.

John enjoyed watching Alabama football games and swapping stories with friends. He will truly be missed.

Survivors include his loving wife ,Wanda Skaggs Huffman of Ashland; daughters, Brigitte Prosch and husband Jim of Columbus, Corinne Tierney and husband Danny of Russell; brothers, James R. Huffman of Ashland, Daniel B. Huffman and wife Brenda of Ashland; three grandchildren, Michael John Tierney, Paul Lincoln (Melanie) Tierney, Amber Jean (Kevin) Tierney; six great-grandchildren, Daniel, Drew, Dylan, Breanna, Paul, II, Emma; two nieces; one nephew and a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Rose Hill Burial Park. Services will be held at the gravesite by Chaplain Jimm Smedley. Burial will immediately follow the service. There will be no visitation. Services are under the direction of the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue.

Betty Holbrook

Betty Jane Holbrook, 78, of Ft. Myers, Florida, formerly of Ironton, died Friday, April 3, 2015, in Lee Memorial Health System, Ft. Myers, Florida. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

 

 

Dorothy Christian

Dorothy Marie Simmons Christian, 82, of Chesapeake, died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

 

 

Amber McCleese

Amber Dawn McCleese, 33, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Midkiff. There will be no services. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Stephen Gee

Stephen Gee, 59, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born Jan. 4, 1956, a son to the late Robert W. and Emma Jayne Crager Gee.

Stephen was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed fishing and camping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Michael Ray Gee.

He is survived by three daughters, Stephanie Blevins, Amy Wheeler and Brea Barnes, all of Ironton; two sons, Michael Gee of Nashville, Tennessee and Eric Lancaster of Ironton; mother of his daughters, Lisa Haney of Ironton; two sisters, Patty (Herb) Lewis and Bonnie Sturgill, all of Ironton; 15 grandchildren; two nephews and one niece

Jerry Ellenberg

Jerry Gordon Ellenberg, 78, of Henderson, North Carolina, formerly of Chesapeake, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at Ridgewood Manor in Maumee. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements which are incomplete.

 

 

Martha Eaton

Martha Anne Eaton, 62, of Proctorville, died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia. Per her request there will be no services. Garland Forbush, 70, of South Point, husband of Carolyn Sellards Forbush, died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
