Alberta McClaskey

Sept. 24, 1934-April 9, 2015

Alberta Faye McClaskey “Bert”, 80, of Coal Grove, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 9, 2015. Alberta was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Lawrence County, to the late Martha Alice Wilson and Albert Keaton.  Alberta was fiercely independent, spoke her mind, and made the most delicious cornbread you could ever imagine.  She was pretty in pink, loved fast cars, long fingernails, and creating beautiful things from thread.  She refused to use a dishwasher, ironed everything to a perfect press, was meticulous about the tinsel on her Christmas tree, and lived 80 wonderfully long years, making friends wherever she visited. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Cook (William), Henderson, Nevada; granddaughter, Jessica Wethington (Richard), Louisville, Kentucky; brother, Ottis( Butch) Jenkins (Lou), Ironton; sister, Barbara Walters, Mount Vernon; nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert McClaskey and sister, Marlene Hammonds.  Family and friends are encouraged to visit from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home, where a funeral service will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. with pastor Jeff Cremeans officiating.  Internment to follow at Zoar Cemetery.
