WEST PORTSMOUTH — It was just a bad day at the office.

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers had one of those off-nights in a 4-1 loss to the Portsmouth West Lady Senators on Tuesday.

“We just didn’t give our best team effort,” said Ironton coach Missy Fields.

“We played sloppy and we didn’t have much energy. We were not aggressive on the bases and lost an opportunity to score. We were hitting, but we couldn’t connect the hits together to get the runs.”

Ironton had eight hits to just three for West but couldn’t put anything together.

Kylee Metzger went 3-for-3, Zjaytia Black-Mize 2-3 and Kenzie Cremeens 2-4 for the Lady Tigers.

Metzger took the loss as she struck out three and walked one.

Ironton visits South Point on Thursday.
