James Wilson

James Allen Wilson, 83, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. The Higginsport native was born Sept. 11, 1931, a son of the late James Perry and Linnie Mae Shafer Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marietta Grace Wilson, who passed away Sept. 1, 2012.

Mr. Wilson was a graduate of Higginsport High School and was a former agent and manager for Western & Southern Insurance Company. He was a member and elder of the 10th and Vine, Church of Christ in Ironton.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Charles Anderson; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn K. Wilson.

He is survived by one son, David A. (Patricia) Wilson of Huntsville, Alabama; four daughters, Patty Wilson Anderson of Nashville, Tennessee, Cindy Wilson (Ricky) Blankenship of Hernando, Mississippi, Cheryl Wilson (Tim) Murphy of Towson, Maryland and Kim Wilson (David) Clark of Collierville, Tennessee; a brother, John E. “Jack” Wilson of Ripley; 11 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the 10th and Vine Church of Christ with Jason Ridgeway and Mike Grose officiating. Burial will follow in Shinkle Ridge Cemetery and visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Irene Joseph

Inis “Irene” Joseph, 94, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born Jan. 21, 1921, a daughter of the late John and Rose Mitchem Hieronimus. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Emory Joseph, who passed away in 1988.

Mrs. Joseph was a homemaker and a member of the Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Emory G. Joseph; and her brothers and sisters, Roy Hieronimus, Luthur Hieronimus, Oliver Hieronimus, Celia Koster, Bessie Baldwin, Lillian Mart, Catherine Johnson, Myrtle Hieronimus, Roseanna Hieronimus and John Hieronimus

She is survived by two daughters, Inez (Kenneth) Gholson of Hilliard and Kathy Joseph of Ironton; four grandchildren, Ken “Peggy” Gholson Jr., Rhonda (Jeff) Bullett, Dave (Tammie) Gholson and Dean (Lorri) Gholson; eight great grandchildren, Daniel Clement, Kendra Gholson, Tyler Logan, McKenzi Irene Bullett, Zack Bullett, Bryan Gholson, D.J. Gholson, and Duncan Gholson; and four great-great-grandchildren, Dustin, Ryan, Elijah and Lily.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church with pastors Don Comer and John Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery and visitation will be from noon Saturday until the time of the service at the church. Bonnie Wilson

Yvonne “Bonnie” Day Wilson, 68, of Coal Grove, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland. She was born Dec. 10, 1946, a daughter of the late Harlan and Mary (Gannon) Day. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Bob Wilson, who passed away July 10, 2003.

Bonnie was a 1965 graduate of Dawson Bryant High School. She later went on to work as a secretary for Dawson Bryant Schools where she retired after 23 years of service in 1997. She was a member Community Missionary Baptist Church in Deering. She enjoyed spending family time and watching her grandchildren participate in sports.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother, Ronald “Bubby” Day; two grandparents, Abbey Gannon and Ethel Williams; and brother-in-law, Cleo Webb.

Bonnie is survived by three daughters, Abby (Keith) Bare of Coal Grove, Amy Fields of South Point and Arinn McKnight of Coal Grove; seven grandchildren, Adam Bare, Alex Bare, Eric Fields, Isaac Fields, Curtis McKnight, Baylee McKnight and Brayden McKnight; sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Webb; brother, Daniel “ Danny” Day; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Brother Zachary Heaberlin officiating. Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery, Coal Grove. Terry Slone

Terry Lee Slone, 52, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller.
