Thompson no-hits New Boston

AID — Trent Thompson cut his day short, but he cut the New Boston bats in half.
Thompson fired a five-inning no-hitter as the Symmes Valley Vikings blanked the New Boston Tigers 13-0 on Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
“Trent threw the ball pretty well and offensively we hit the ball pretty good. We played a lot of our younger guys and they did a good job,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.
The Vikings (9-1, 6-1) had 13 hits led by Tanner Mays, Chayden Renfroe and Thompson who were all 2-for-3. Payton Hayes was 2-4, Tylor Carpenter 1-3 and Grant Carpenter, Laykin Gothard and Isaac McFann all went 1-1.
Mays and Carpenter had doubles.
Thompson had a two-run single in the first inning as the Vikings took a 4-0 lead.
Meadows drove in a run to make it7-0 in the second inning. Mays doubled in a ru in the third and it was 11-0.
Gothard’s RBI single keyed a two-run fifth inning.
The Vikings play Whiteoak at Veterans Stadium in Chillicothe on Monday.
