HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall men’s basketball coach Dan D’Antoni has added 6-foot-7 forward Terrence Thompson of Durham, N.C., to his 2015-16 roster. Thompson’s signing was announced Monday.

Thompson, a transfer from Georgia Highlands College in Rome, Ga., will be eligible immediately, with three years remaining with the Herd.

“He’s an athletic big who can swing to the perimeter,” D’Antoni said.

“He’s a solid rebounder who can run the floor and score inside and outside the 3-point area. He went for 23 points and 10 rebounds in the national junior college tournament semifinals. Not to mention he’s a biology major who wants to go to med school. We’re looking forward to having him.”

Thompson redshirted his 2013-14 freshman season at Charlotte before transferring and playing the 2014-15 junior college season in Georgia.

With the Chargers, he averaged 9.6 points and 8.9 rebounds over 36 games while leading the team to the 2015 NJCAA Division I men’s basketball national semifinal. In the 105-103 overtime loss against Northwest Florida, he posted a team-high 23 points while pulling down 10 rebounds.

Thompson joins the 2015-16 recruiting class alongside 6-foot-9 forward Aleksandar Dozic (Podgorica, Montenegro), who signed April 15, and 6-foot-5 shooting guard Christian Thieneman (Louisville, Ky.), who signed during the early period in November.
