Lady Tigers win behind Metzger’s two-hitter

COAL GROVE — Kylee Metzger is stingy.

Metzger allowed just two hits as the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 13-3 in six innings on Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Metzger struck out two and walked three over six innings. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Ironton had 10 hits with Taylor Monk going 2-3, Breanna Klaiber 2-4 with a double and Ariel Whitt was 2-4 with a double.

Aley Carmon and Zjaytia Black-Mize each went 1-4 for Ironton.

Lauren Meyer and Leah Crum had hits for Coal Grove.

The Lady Tigers scored three runs in the first inning and a run in the third to lead 4-0. Coal Grove cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the inning, but Ironton exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning and added two more in the sixth.
