Lady Dragons edge Lady Panthers, 8-7

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons had to make it exciting.

Fairland look a comfortable 7-2 lead into the seventh inning, but the Chesapeake Lady Panthers rallied to tie the game.

Fairland then scored a run in the bottom of the seventh for an 8-7 Ohio Valley Conference win on Tuesday.

“Both teams played well. Base running was the key in this game,” said Fairland coach Mindy Clark whose team stole four bases and moved runners with three sacrifice bunts.

Mollie Morris had the big bat for Fairland as she went 4-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored. Seven other players had one hit each including Caitlin Stone who had two runs batted in.

Allison Shepherd got the win as she struck out six and walked five.

Melanie Noble took the loss in relief.
