SCIOTOVILLE — The were several zeroes on the scoreboard, but the one that impressed Symmes Valley coach Chad Renfroe the most was the last one on his team’s linescore.

The Vikings did not commit an error and got another big zero from pitcher Chayden Renfroe who threw a five-inning no-hitter in a 14-0 Southern Ohio Conference win over the Sciotoville East Tartans on Wednesday.

“We played really good defense. We didn’t have an error,” said coach Renfroe. “And Chayden threw the ball pretty well.”

Renfroe struck out seven and walked two in getting the win. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Dillon McFann was 2-4 with a double and Tylor Carpenter 2-3 as the Vikings had nine hits.

The Vikings (11-1, 7-1) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a couple of walks and an error.

Symmes Valley scored eight runs in the third inning by combining three walks and a two-run single by Renfroe and RBI singles by Carpenter and McFann.

The Vikings scored four more in the fourth.

They used two walks, a couple of passed balls, singles by Carpenter and Renfroe, Klaiber’s double and a sacrifice fly by Payton Hayes.

The Vikings complete a suspended game with Green on Thursday and host Portsmouth Notre Dame in a pivotal SOC game on Friday.
