GAHANNA — Facing some tough teams was a challenge for the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings.

They didn’t do too bad with the challenge.

The Lady Vikings lost 12-1 to Division I Tippecanoe in the first game but rebounded to beat Circleville Logan Elm 8-4 in their second game at the Gahanna Classic on Saturday.

In the first game, Megan Rittenhouse pitched a five-hitter and the Lady Red Devils had 13 hits en route to the win.

Taylor Webb went 2-3 with a double and Brenna Morris was 2-2 for the Lady Vikings.

Symmes Valley (17-3) bounced back in the second game with an 8-4 win.

Autumn Keathley went 3-for-4 with a double and Sierra Ross 2-3 with a home run to lead the offense. Hannah Mays was 2-3 with a double while Tiara Hatfield and Morris each had a hit.

The Lady Vikings took a 4-1 lead in the first inning.

Kaitlyn Payne walked, Hatfield singled and Keathley had a two-run double. Ross singled and Mays spanked a two-run double.

The lead went to 7-1 in the third when Ross cranked a home run after a walk to Payne and Keathley’s base hit.

The Lady Braves to a run in the fourth and two in the sixth, but the Lady Vikings got a run back in the bottom of the sixth when Payne reached on an error, Hatfield walked and Keathley singled.

Symmes Valley visits Portsmouth Notre Dame on Monday.
