WEST PORTSMOUTH — The Ironton Junior Fighting Tigers celebrated their Sweet 16.

No, it wasn’t a birthday. The Junior Tigers banged out 16 hits in each game as they won the Portsmouth West Farm Team Classic on Wednesday.

Ironton scored six runs in the 11th inning and beat West 9-3 in the semifinals. The Fighting Tigers then routed North Adams 12-2 in six innings in the title game.

Travis Gayhart was the tournament Hitting Most Valuable Player and Chase Rowe was selected the tournament Pitching MVP.

Tanner Bowles and Aaron Jackson doubled with one out to start the six-run winning rally.

Zaylin Willis, Tyler Malone, Rowe, Gayhart and Levi Langdon all followed with consecutive singles.
