Relay support benefits

It’s a staggering statistic that one in three Americans will have cancer in their lifetimes.

There is also a chance those other two people both know someone very close to them who has some form of the disease.

That’s why it is more important than ever to support the American Cancer Society and its Relay for Life events. Lawrence County’s event will be from noon-midnight on Saturday, May 16 at South Point High School.

Not only does support Relay for Life pump money into cancer research, prevention, treatment and education, but it also gives moral and emotional support for those who survived the disease, are still fighting the disease and those who have lost a loved one.

Relay events are also a good way to bring people together to share their stories of courage and inspiration to those who may need encouragement in their fight against cancer.

For many years now, Lawrence County’s students have been instrumental in making sure Relay for Life continues to be a success by hosting events at individual schools and supporting the large countywide event.

We hope the community will continue to support those students and Relay organizers so one day, a cure can be found.
