Student selected for Buckeye Boys State
Fairland High School junior Benjamin Bealy has been selected by American Legion Post 433 to participate in the American Legion Buckeye Boys State June 14-21 at Bowling Green State University.
The eight-day intensive education program on Ohio government is for high school students and each participant becomes a part of the operation of a mythical 51st state local, county and state government.
At American Legion Buckeye Boys State, participants are exposed to the rights, privileges, duties and responsibilities of a franchised citizen. The training is objective, practical and non-partisan with city, county and state government operated by students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, a band and recreation. High school juniors are selected by local American Legion posts.
