Glenn Ratcliffe

Glenn Ratcliffe, 87, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015. He was born in LaFollette, Tennessee, and moved to Florida in 1983. Glenn was a retired first sergeant in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Brooksville, Florida. He was survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Ann; his sister, Shirley Wasky; his son, E.E. (Butch) Whitehead and wife Susan; three grandchildren, David, Susann and Mark; and two great grandchildren, Alex and Hailey. A committal service was held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

 

 

Betty Ratcliffe

Betty Ann Ratcliffe, 88, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015. She was born in Ironton and move to Brooksville in 1983. She was a military spouse in which her husband, Glenn, served 27 years in the U.S. Army. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ratcliffe; her parents, Bea Whitehead and Clementine (Adkins) Whitehead; brothers, James, Gerald, Homer and Richard; sisters, Carolyn, Vera, Sally and Rebecca; and nephew, David. She is survived by her son, E.E. (Butch) Whitehead and his wife, Susan; three grandchildren, David, Susann and Mark; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Hailey; nieces, Carolyn, Cathy, Sherri, Teresa, Mary Anna and Linda; and nephews, Michael, James, Jeff, John and Donnie. Burial services will be at a later date.

 

 

Peter Underwood

Peter J. Underwood, 31, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was tragically killed in a car accident Saturday morning, May 16, 2015, near Atlantic, Iowa. He was born in Eltham, England, on Nov. 24, 1983, to Robert Underwood and Margot Bowen.

He is survived by his wife, Austin; their two young children, daughter, Lyla, and son, Jude; parents, Robert Underwood and Margot Bowen; sister, Renata (Tony) Padilla; mother and father-in-law, Bob and Sissy Clyse; brothers-in-law, Tyler (Savannah) Clyse and Crosby Clyse; sister-in-law, Sunni Clyse; nieces and nephews, Jess and Bella Padilla and Finley and Briar Clyse; his beloved dog, Lady Bigglesworth; and many more friends and loved ones.

James Triplett

James Edward Triplett, 59, of Ironton, passed away, Monday, May 11, 2015, at his residence. The Ashland, Kentucky, native was born May 4, 1956, a son of Ernestine May Triplett Ross and the late Eskell F. Triplett. He is also survived by his wife of 35 years, Georgia Blair Triplett, whom he married Nov. 26, 1979.

James was a graduate of Ashland City Schools and then received his welding degree from Hocking Tech in Nelsonville. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and a former truck driver, retiring in 1990. He considered the Rev. Richard Carter of Triedstone Baptist Church as his pastor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cookouts and his pets, but more than anything he loved spending time with his family. He had a very special love for his grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Triplett; a sister, Karen Johnson; and a brother, Clifford Triplett.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jammie White; a son, Bryan Blair; four sisters, Kristie Scarberry, Teddi Caldwell, Dorene Coffee, and Denise Bell; a brother, Jeffery Triplett; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Triedstone Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Carter officiating. Phillips Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Jill Fuhr

Jill Ann Dodson Fuhr, 60, of Ironton, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Concord Health and Rehabilitation Center, Wheelersburg. Mrs. Fuhr was born June 9, 1954, a daughter to the late Russell and Lucille (Ferguson) Dodson.
