Michael Willis

Michael F. Willis, 62, of Ironton, departed this life peacefully Monday, May 25, 2015, at Jo-Lin Health Care Center in Ironton. The Great Falls, Montana, native was born March 3, 1953, a son of the late Francis Willis and Pauline Johnson Willis Harshbarger, and stepson of the late Thurman Harshbarger, Sr. He is survived by Dorie Willis, his loving wife of 43 years.

Mr. Willis attended Dawson-Bryant schools, and loved old classic cars and guns.

In addition to his parents and step-father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Kay Willis.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Misty (John) Naze of Richmond, Kentucky; a son, Michael Matthew Willis, of Ironton; three sisters; and three brothers.

A celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Friday at Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Phillips Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Charles Kelley

Charles Curtis “Chuck” Kelley, 54, passed away on May 23, 2015, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus. Chuck was born on Nov. 22, 1960, in Ironton.

He graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1979 and from Ohio University Athens Campus with a bachelor of communication science degree in 1983. Chuck had a long successful career in media-advertising sales, first at the Columbus Dispatch and later with the Suburban News Publications and the Herald Dispatch in Huntington, West Virginia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Eleanor Kelley of Pedro; and his paternal grandparents, John and Nola Kelley and his maternal grandparents, George and Jenny Unrue. He is survived by his loving longtime partner, Andrew Sterling of Columbus; sister, Lois (Donald) Barcus of Kitts Hill; brothers, George (Theresa) Kelley of Franklin Furnace, John (Marsha) Kelley of Willow Wood and Brian (Nancy) Kelley of Ironton; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodland Cemetery Section 22 at his parents’ gravesite.

A dinner will be served following the service at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. A celebration of Chuck’s life will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Congregational Church UCC, 444 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to First Congregational Church.

 

 

Danny Kelley

Danny Richard Kelley, 75, of Ironton, died Monday, May 25, 2015, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. There will be no services at this time. Phillips Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. To offer online condolences, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

William Biars

William “Russ” Biars, 69, of Ironton, formerly of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the Jo Lin Health Center in Ironton. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday at the Brown Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dean Koun and the Rev. Jimmy Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the services at the chapel.

 

 

Jeannie Beckley

Jeannie Lou Beckley, 73, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Monday, May 25, 2015, at Huntington Health & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Charles Wilson, 75, of Wurtland, Kentucky, died Saturday, May 23, 2015, in Douglasville, Georgia. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev.
