Cindy Delawder

Cindy L. Delawder, 52, of South Point, passed away June 3, 2015, at a hospice care in Kanas City.

She is the daughter of the late Berkly and Mary Broughton Carrico. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters Stacey L. Carrico, Debbie Carrico, Brenda Bartrum, Mary Evelyn Carrico and Linda Carrico; also a brother, Jay Broughton. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by a daughter, Misty Carrico and son, Darrell L. Carrico of Ironton; brother, Berkley Carrico of South Point; and sister, Joy Crowe of Ironton . She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Brenton and Timothy Littlejohn of Ironton and Tyler Nance of Symmes Valley; also a host of nieces and nephews . Their will be a memorial at a later date. Arrangements still pending. (MOM WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU SO BAD. GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN)

 

Susan Gray

Susan Elaine (Peterson) Gray, 51, formerly of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015, in Lexington, Kentucky. She was a dedicated dance mom to Callie, a great sister, daughter and aunt. She was valedictorian of the 1982 class of Rock Hill High School, 1985 graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing and received her BSN and MSN from Indiana Wesleyan University. She was an employee at the University of Kentucky Medical Center for 30 years, rising from floor nurse to staff specialist, having also served at PACU during her career.

She is survived by her daughter, Callie Elizabeth Gray of Lexington, Kentucky; parents, Bill and Eleanor (Chatfield) Peterson of Ironton; and sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Ron Steed of Ironton. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Lucas James Steed.

Visitation is today from 4-7 p.m. at Milward-Man O’ War in Lexington. Funeral service is Monday at 1 p.m. with visitation from noon-1 p.m. at Philips Funeral Home with pastor Ryan Massie officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.

 

John Newby

John D. Newby, 39, of Geneva, formerly of Lloyd, Kentucky, died at home on June 9, 2015. Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Kentucky. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Kentucky. Visitation is today from 6-9 p.m. and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Wanda Willis

March 3, 1929—June 9, 2015

Wanda Jean Vanderhoof Valentine Willis, 86, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The Pedro native was born March 3, 1929, the daughter of the late Charles A. and Hattie B. Osborne Vanderhoof.

Mrs. Willis was a graduate of Coal Grove High School. She was a teller for the First Star Bank for more than 25 years and an employee of Wilson’s Sporting Goods in Ironton for 27 years. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Deering and involved with the Mystery Mates Group at the church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sam Valentine, who passed away in 1968; her second husband, the Rev. Howard Willis, who passed away in 2001; five brothers, Wilson Vanderhoof, Lawrence Vanderhoof, Roy Vanderhoof, Bob Vanderhoof, and Carl Vanderhoof; a sister, Gladys Whorley; and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Vanderhoof.

She is survived by her son, David D. Valentine of Ironton; and a sister-in-law, Helen Vanderhoof Turner of Ironton.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens and visitation will be Tuesday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested monetary donations be made to Phillips Funeral Home, PO Box 122, Ironton, OH to assist with the arrangements. Lawrence Esque

Nov. 14, 1930-June 10, 2015

Lawrence Earl Esque, 84, of Kitts Hill, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at his residence.  The Huntington, West Virginia, native was born Nov. 14, 1930, a son to the late Lenard May and Mary Jane (Blevins) Esque.

Lawrence went on to work as a sanitation worker for Corns Sanitation in Huntington for 20 years and was a U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his first wife, Elanore Marie Hobbs; two brothers, Charles Esque and Harlan Esque; and two daughters, Rosetta and Roseeta.

Lawrence is survived by three daughters, Lois Lockhart of Huntington, Brenda Dukes of Ceredo, West Virginia, and Linda Carol of Ironton; and two son, James Esque and Bobby Esque, both of South Point.

Charles Chapman

Charles Chapman, 71, of Ironton, died Saturday, June 13, 2015, at his residence. Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.
