JACKSON (AP) — The State Highway Patrol says a woman on a motorcycle has been killed in a crash with a semitrailer in southern Ohio.
A statement from the patrol’s Jackson post reports that 68-year-old Linda Skidmore, of Gallia County, was killed in the crash shortly after noon Saturday.
The patrol reports that eyewitness accounts said Skidmore was westbound on U.S. 35 on her motorcycle with fellow bikers and moved to the left lane and stopped for unknown reasons when the group slowed to turn right. The patrol’s statement says 62-year-old Thomas Jackson, of Columbus, Georgia, was approaching from behind and had moved left to pass the group, but couldn’t avoid hitting Skidmore.
Authorities say Skidmore wasn’t wearing a helmet and died from injuries received when she was knocked from her bike.
