Mina Hamilton

Mina Frances Hamilton, 84, of Waterloo, went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 19, 2015, at her residence. The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native was born Dec. 18, 1930, a daughter of the late James Harve and Myrtle Benyon Stephens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ercell Hamilton, who passed away April 26, 1986.

Mrs. Hamilton attended Olive Hill High School and was a former president/treasurer for the Shawnee Senior Center. She was a member of the Palestine Missionary Baptist Church in Waterloo and was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant sons, Harkey Dee and Roger Lee Hamilton; grandson, Terry Michael Adkins Jr.; four brothers, Garner, Dee, Decker and Freeman Stephens; sister, Dessie Cline; and son-in-law, Richard Mays.

She is survived by a son, Dallas (Terri) Hamilton of Willow Wood; daughter, Marsha (Lee) Taylor of Pedro; daughter, Myrtle “Becky” Mays of Waterloo; daughter, Nora (Kenneth) Boggs of Waterloo; son, David (Teresa) Hamilton of Chesapeake; daughter, Vineta (Greg) Shope of Pedro; brother, Donald (Molly) Stephens of Olive Hill, Kentucky; brother, Dennis (Donna) Stephens of Olive Hill, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Everman Cemetery and visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net

 

 

David Friend

David Eugene Friend, 62, of El Paso, Texas, formerly of Ironton, died Monday, June 15, 2015, in El Paso.

He was born July 31, 1952, in Ironton, son of the late William and Chloe Leonard Friend. He graduated from Ironton High School and served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include son, Jay Friend of Ironton; brother, Bobby Friend of Ironton and two sisters, Helen (Friend) Lumsden of Summersville, Georgia, and Wanda (Friend) Brammer of Ironton. Also surviving are two nieces, Kim McFann and Tammy Johnson, both of Ironton; nephew, Corey Belville; and a great-niece, Kaylen Belville of Huntington, West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be in El Paso.

Mildred Beatrice Adkins, 81, of Scottown, died Friday, 19, 2015, at Community Hospice in Ashland, Kentucky. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Eugene Roy, Sr.

Eugene Beverly Roy, Sr., 73, of Proctorville, died Friday, June 19, 2015, at home. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Roy. Funeral service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by pastor Ray Knapp. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, West Virginia. Lawrence Daniels

Lawrence Graham Daniels, 77, of Clearwater, Florida, died Monday, June 15, 2015, in Clearwater. He was born to Dwight A. and Mildred N. Allen Daniels on Nov. 16, 1937, in Bryan. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Gossett Daniels, whom he married Nov. 25, 1961. He has one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Grantges, and three grandchildren, Ethan, Emma and Natalie Grantges, all of Clearwater.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Philip C. Daniels. He is also survived by one brother, Lynn Daniels, of Huntington, West Virginia; and a sister-in-law, Marsha Daniels, of Gahanna. He has four nephews, one niece, and five great nieces and nephews.

Larry graduated from Dover High School with the Class of 1955, and from The Ohio State University in 1960 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was retired from Alpha Portland Cement Company and The University of Alabama.

Imogene Carey

Imogene Blakeman Carey, 88, of Coal Grove, went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. She was born May 24, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles and Sally Blakeman. She was a charter member, as well as the longest living member of Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene for 68 years and a retired librarian of Dawson-Bryant Local Schools.

She was married in January of 1947 to her late husband, Thomas G. Carey, Sr., and was the youngest of eight brothers and sisters, Arnold, James, Don, Charles, Harold, and sisters Lorena, Lenora, and Marie. She is survived by one son, Thomas G. (Barbara) Carey of Coal Grove; one daughter, Beth Lykins of Ironton; four grandchildren, Audra (Todd) Deere of South Point, Scott (Elena) Lykins of Austin, Texas, Amy Sterling, and Ryan Carey, both of Coal Grove; five great-grandchildren, Trevor and Cameron Deere, Tanner Lykins, Aaron Sterling, Zach Carey; and a special caregiver, Donna Sue Triplett of Coal Grove.

Funeral services will be noon Monday at Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene with pastor Brain Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Coal Grove. Friends may call at Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene from 10 a.m.-noon. Funeral services will be at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene. Services are being conducted by O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home.

 

 

Jack Webb

Jack Webb, 78, of Coal Grove, died Friday, June 19, 2015, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. “Sally” Sites Webb. Arrangements pending at Phillips Funeral Home.
