CHILLICOTHE (AP) — Police in a southern Ohio city where four women have died in just over a year and two are still missing have announced a crackdown on drugs and prostitution.
Multiple officers will target a section of Chillicothe known for drug dealing and other crimes. Chillicothe police, the Ross County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are participating.
The announcement Monday in Chillicothe — about 50 miles south of Columbus — is part of a larger investigation centered on several drug-addicted women who went missing.
One woman was fatally shot, another died of a drug overdose, a third apparently killed herself, and the cause of death for a fourth has not been determined. A fifth woman has been missing since May 2014 and a sixth since last fall.
