HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Marshall’s athletic department will conduct a memorial service for former assistant football coach Phil Ratliff.

The public service will be held Saturday night at the Marshall University Memorial Fountain. The university says in a statement that the Ratliff family plans to attend.

Ratliff died Sunday, six days after suffering a cardiac event. He was 44. He had been the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Charlotte since 2012.

Ratliff played at Marshall from 1989-92 and was the Thundering Herd’s tight ends coach from 2006-11.
