Rosemary Dillon

Rosemary Dillon, 78, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at her home. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 17, 1937, a daughter of the late Curtis Blankenship and Elizabeth Myers Blankenship.

Rosemary was a graduate of Portsmouth East High School and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and childcare worker for Edgemeade and the Lawrence County Children’s Home and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Noel Dean Dillon; brother, Joseph Blankenship; sister, Louise Noe; and sister, Pam Littlejohn.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Jim Hughes, of Ironton; three grandchildren, Hannah Ferguson, Nick Ferguson and Dylan Ferguson; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Jo Blankenship, of Canyon City, Colorado; sister, Carolyn Bailey, of Las Vegas; brother and sister-in-law, John and Donna Blankenship, of Kitts Hill; cousin, Larry Blankenship, of Ironton; and special nephew, Douglas Noe and family, of L.A. California.

Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father David Huffman officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 11 a.m. until time of the Mass, with burial following in Hecla Cemetery. Phillips Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Helen Hardy

Helen Marie Hardy, 83, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, in Ironton. The Lawrence County native was born April 1, 1932, a daughter of the late Chester Butler and Mary Boyd Butler. She was of the Baptist faith and retired from River Valley Hospital in 1993 after being a nursing assistant for 25 years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Thomas D. Hardy; sister, Margaret F. Perry; and brother-in-law, Jerry L. Clayton.

She is survived by daughter, Deborah E. Clayton, of Ironton; daughter, Lucinda McCalvin, of Ironton; sister, Carol J. Witt, of Ironton; grandchildren, Thomas M. McCalvin, Sissy (Danny) Wheeler and Rachelle L. Clayton; great-grandchild, Carleigh Holston; niece, Lynn Witt; nephew, Tim Witt; and great-niece, Ashley Witt.

Graveside services will be at Highland Memorial Gardens at 12:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m.-noon at Phillips Funeral Home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

Charles Yates

Charles L. Yates, 80, of Coal Grove, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at Sunset Nursing Center, Coal Grove. He is survived by his wife, Janet Cope. Funeral services will be noon Thursday at Zoar Baptist Church, Coal Grove, with pastor Jim Beals officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Leona Williams

Leona Williams, 81, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods. Arrangements are pending at Bailey Family Funeral Home, Flatwoods.
