Man hit by train dies

A man is dead after being hit by a train at the McPherson Street crossing in Ironton.
The incident happened around 10 and 10:15 a.m. this morning.
According to Ironton Police Detective Joe Ross, the man was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center Ironton Campus and was pronounced dead.
He has not been positivity identified at this time and a name will not be released until next of kin is notified, Ross said.
“We think he was from out of town,” Ross said.
Investigators also don’t know why the man was on the tracks.
Responding to the scene were the IPD, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Lawrence County EMS, Hanging Rock Police Department, Ironton Fire Department and other emergency services.
