PEDRO — What started as a slow week ended on a high note for the Rock Hill Redwomen volleyball team.

The Redwomen dropped a tough match to the Chesapeake Lady Panthers in four sets, 25-18, 14-25, 23-25 and 18-25.

“We could have played much better all-around,” said Redwomen coach Mary Ferguson. “At times we play well and other times we get down. That is something we are working on.”

Rock Hill won the reserve match 25-21, 22-25 and 25-16.

The Redwomen played Wellston on Wednesday and played another four-set match that was won by the Lady Golden Rockets, 23-25, 25-11, 23-25 and 15-25.

In the junior varsity game, Rock Hill fell 17-25, 25-10, 24-26 despite Alyssa Monnig scoring 12 straight serve points in the second set.

Rock Hil rebounded to win a thrilling five-set Ohio Valley Conference match on Thursday over the South Point Lady Pointers, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22, 18-25 and 15-10.

“We played well in this match. We had better communication and working together was key for us as it is in any game,” said Ferguson.

“We adjusted and played great defense and pushed through. We finished strong and layed hard and never gave up.”

In the reserve match, the Redwomen won in straight sets, 25-23, 25-19.

Rock Hill visits Fairland on Tuesday and hosts Coal Grove on Thursday in OVC games. Both begin at 5:30.
