Gary Hammond

Nov. 30, 1960—Sept. 14, 2015

Gary Lee “Monk” Hammond, 54, of Ironton, Ohio passed away Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born Nov. 30, 1960, and is survived by his wife, Teresa Bryant Hammond. He was the son of Janet Haynes of Ironton and the late Kenneth “Pat” Hammond.

Mr. Hammond was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a custodian for Dawson-Bryant Elementary School. He just recently rededicated his life to the Lord and was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving husband, father and granpoppy to his family. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren his hobbies of nature; turtle noodling, fishing and deer hunting.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Hannah Lee (Ridge McEwen) Hammond of Ironton and Taylor Renee (Daniel Wagoner) of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Dylan, Jacob, Elaina and Adalyn; his brothers, Frank Hammond of Coal Grove and Jeffrey (Angie) Haynes of Kitts Hill; a sister, Kim Wilburn Barker of Coal Grove; and special in-laws, Gary and Anita Bryant of Deering.

Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Community Cemetery with the Rev. Rob Barker officiating. There will be no public visitation and Phillips Funeral Home, is assisting the family with the arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 Alice Malone

Dec. 5, 1921— June 24, 2015

Alice Barbara Malone entered Eternal Rest on June 24, 2015. Alice was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Lawrence County, to Charles W. Gilmore (Born April 12, 1890 in Pulaski County, Virginia) and Agnes Hasenauer (Born February 4, 1894 in Lawrence County, Ohio). Alice is survived by her son Thomas Malone of Hillsboro Beach, Florida and daughter Constance Tamcsin of Mequon, Wisconsin. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ironton, preceded by a brief gathering. Alice will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.

 

Bernard Chapman

Bernard A. Chapman, 89, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, at Wyngate at RiversEdge Senior Living Community, Proctorville. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

 

 Marcy Garrett

Marcy Garrett, 62, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, William Garrett. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at 16th Street Baptist Church, Huntington, West Virginia. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at the church. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements.

 

 Willie Noble

Willie Noble, 48, of Chesapeake, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at home. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Danita Ann Dehart, 60, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

 

 Charles Preston, Jr.

Charles P. Preston, Jr., 59, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2015, at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus. There will be a visitation Thursday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods from 5-8 p.m. There will also be a memorial service at the convenience of the family at a later date.
