Ronald Jenkins

Jan. 2, 1949 –– Sept. 15, 2015

Ronald Dale Jenkins 66, of Van Buren, died on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, from results of a motorcycle accident. Ron was born on Jan. 2, 1949, in Ironton to the late Ansel and Mable (Collins) Jenkins. Ron was a graduate of Rock Hill High School, and the owner and operator of Findlay Auto Parts for 25 years. Ron was a member of the Moose, and the USBC. He loved racing stock cars, bowling, riding his motorcycle, NASCAR and flea markets. Most of all, Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maryanne (Breitigan) Jenkins; sons, Toby (Molly) and TJ (Tracy) Jenkins; five beautiful grandchildren, Felicia, Payton, Brittany, Hailey and Kelsey; sisters, Dorothy (Larry) Waugh, Shelia Massie and Cora Jenkins; and brothers, Don (Marie), Danny, and Jimmy Jenkins.

Ron was preceded in death by his brothers, David Jenkins, and Jack Owens; and sisters, Doris Fulkner and Nellie McDowell.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be on Sunday, from 1-5 p.m. at Hufford Family Funeral Home, 1500 Manor Hill Road, Findlay. Memorial contributions in Ron’s name may be made to the family. Online condolences may be sent to www.huffordfh.com.

 

 

Gladys Eldridge

Jan. 28, 1928—Sept. 18, 201 5

Gladys Mae Eldridge, 87, of South Point, passed away Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at Sunset Nursing Home, Coal Grove. She was born in Logan, West Virginia on Jan. 28, 1928, to the late Donald and Estil (Pritchard) Pancake.

Gladys was a homemaker and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Huntington and also attended Catlettsburg Christian Fellowship.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, James B. Scaggs; second husband, Bernard Lee Eldridge; four sisters and three brothers.

Gladys is survived by two sons, Gary Lee and Linda Pancake of Willow Wood, and Bernard Ray Eldridge of Georgia; and three daughters, Virginia Ann and Sam Corns of South Point, Shirley Bishop of Georgia and Brenda Louise and Brian Allen of Coal Grove. She is also survived by one sister, Emma Dailey, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with pastor Sam Corns officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 until 8 p.m.

Wayne Warner

May 23, 1949—Sept. 18, 2015

Wayne Allen Warner, 66, of Worthington passed away Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at the Kobacker House after a long battle with cancer.

Wayne was born in New Knoxville, on May 23, 1949 and was the child of late Florez and Helen Warner.  Wayne attended Findlay College, Ohio Northern University College of Law, S.P.I in Louisville, Kentucky, and Ohio University.   He was a graduate of the 98th class of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy.  He retired in September, 2000.  After retirement he enjoy a career with Genoa, Madison and Norwich Townships, before finishing his career back with the Ohio Highway Patrol Retirement System.  Wayne had the opportunity to live all over the state of Ohio, and meet so many wonderful friends through his career.  Wayne always felt he was truly a blessed man no matter what the circumstances were.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 25 years, Melinda; children, Todd (Lynn), Erika (Ryan), Josh, Chad, and Brett.  Wayne had seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who he loved dearly.  Wayne is also survived by a loving sister Beverly (Jim) Reineke, along with nieces and nephews who he cherished spending time with.

Friends may visit from 3-6 on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street,  Worthington, Ohio. Services will follow at 6 p.m. at the Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions can be made to Christmas to Cure Cancer to support the Heather Pick Music Program at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.

 

 

Avanelle Sowards

Avanelle Sowards, 90, of Gallipolis, died Thursday, Sept.17, 2015, at Middleton Estates, Gallipolis. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by pastor Tom Jones. Burial will follow in McCormick Cemetery, Proctorville.
