Cameron Bushong is a service forester who has gone out West on two occasions to battle wildfires.
He was on Ohio’s Interagency Crew to the Fork Complex in Hayfork, California and the Gasquet Complex in Gasquet, California. He will speak at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Ironton First Church of the Nazarene on the experiences and work that he did on those two fires.
Wild fires on the West Coast have killed as many as four people and consumed thousands of homes. According to the National Interagency Fire Center nearly 9 million acres have gone up in flames so far this year as compared to the close to 3 million over the same period in 2014.
Bushong is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor of science in environment and natural resources. He is currently employed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in the Division of Forestry as a service forester where he provides advice and technical assistance to private landowners seeking guidance in the management of their woods in a three county area.
All area first responders are encouraged to come and be a part of this service.
Ironton First Nazarene is located at 2318 S. Fourth St. For more information call 740-532-3413.
