Rose Duty

Oct. 31, 1923—Sept. 30, 2015

Rose Duty, 91, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 31, 1923, a daughter of the late Edward and Bertha Abrams Blankenship. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Duty.

Mrs. Duty attended Hanging Rock Schools and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church and attended the 13th Street Baptist Church in Ashland, Kentucky. She had a love of flowers, enjoyed gardening, quilting, and ceramics.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by

five sisters, Ethel Schilling, Roberta Richendollar, Grace Frazier, Dorthy Blankenship and Edith Clutters; and two brothers, Charles Blankenship and James Blankenship.

She is survived by her children, Sally Hall, Carol Barnett, Harold Duty, and Mary Lou Jenkins, all of Ironton; a sister, Lucille Byrd; 10 grandchildren, Steve Barnett, Donald (John) Barnett, Robert Barnett, all of Dayton, James Hall, of Cincinnati, Judy Durst, Julie Ours, both of Gallipolis, Robert Hall of Marion, James Perry, of Ironton, Levenna Fairchild, of Flatwoods, Kentucky and Katrina Collins, of Morrow; 16 great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Dave Schug and the Rev. Leon Dalton officiating.  Terri Ward

Terri Ann Williams Ward, 56 of Kenova, West Virginia, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.  She is survived by her husband Mike Ward.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Ward family cemetery, Huntington.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the Reger Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.regerfh.com.

 

 William Newman

William Bertrum Newman, 82, of Huntington, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at home. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

 

 James Weber

James Maurice “Jim” Weber, 67, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday Sept. 30, 2015.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home.   Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ironton with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
