BEAVER — Call it new math, but in this lesson 2 plus 1 equals 100.

The Symmes Valley Vikings got win No. 3 on the season and in the process gave head coach Rusty Webb is 100th career victory.

The Vikings rolled past the Beaver Eastern Eagles 42-16 on Saturday afternoon in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“It just means you had a lot of good players, a really, really good staff and support from the community and the administration. That’s what that means,” said Webb.

The Vikings are 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the SOC. Eastern fell to 2-4 and 0-3.

“We played Symmes Valley football today. We executed better. We played hard and the offense, defense and special teams played well,” said Webb.

“The defense has played well two weeks in a row. Our offense got on track. We had three drives over 10 plays and that’s our style. We executed great.”

After a scoreless first quarter, the Vikings went 59 yards in nine plays with Derrek Smith going the final yard for the score. Blake Bowen kicked the first of six extra points.

“They switched up its defense and we were making adjustments on the fly. The third time we got the ball the kids did very well,” said coach Webb.

A short punt gave the Vikings the ball on the 33-yard line and 11 plays later Collin Webb went 3 yards for the score and a 14-0 lead.

Austin Waugh’s interception the ball back and the Vikings went 42 yards in 10 plays capped by Cameron Meadows’ 5-yard touchdown run with just two seconds on the clock.

“Our offensive coaches did a great job with clock management,” said coach Webb.

Levi Cade brought the second half kickoff back 20 yards to the 49 and five plays later Webb went the final yard and it was 28-0.

The Vikings went on a 50-yard, 10-play drive that chewed up nearly eight minutes and culminated with a 1-yard run by Brandon Craft for a 35-0 lead with 1:23 left in the third quarter.

Eastern got an 18-yard scoring pass from Ethan Leist to Dalton Tomlinson with 11:20 to play to get on the scoreboard. Cole Fremont ran for the conversion.

Waugh bolted 60 yards with 7:23 left to put the Vikings up 42-8.

Eastern answered with a 59-yard pass from Ethan Leist to brother Evan Leist. Tomlinson caught the conversion pass with 6:29 left.

The Vikings racked up 372 yards on the ground on 65 carries led by Craft with 111 yards on 19 attempts.
