Cailyn Lewis

July 6, 2015—Oct. 6, 2015

Cailyn Zurianna Lewis, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She was born July 6, 2015, in Columbus, and is the daughter of Kathy Newcomb and Joseph Lewis of Ironton.

Cailyn was preceded in death by great-grandfather, James Vernon Newcomb Sr.; great-grandmother, Francis Asberry; great-grandfather, Larry Asberry; great- grandfather, Donald Lewis; great grandparents, Eloise (Sonny) Webb; great-great grandmother, Bonnie Brown; and second cousin, Charles Sparks Jr.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Bryson Lewis of Ironton; a sister, Ameria Lewis of Ironton; grandparents, Connie (James King) Newcomb of Ironton; paternal grandparents, Barbara (Joseph Lewis Sr.) Lewis of Ironton; grandparents, Dana (Tim) Evans of Columbus; two aunts, Jessica (Daniel) Cook and Latoya Lewis, both of Ironton; two uncles, Curtis Turvey and Thomas Lewis, both of Ironton, and several cousins

Funeral services will be 11a.m.Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Tim Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Edward Jones

March 30, 1953— Oct. 9, 2015

Edward Thomas (Tom) Jones, 62, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at his residence. The Ironton native was born March 30, 1953, a son of the late Robert Jones and Genevieve Robbins Higgins and his adoptive parents, the late Griffin Solomon Sowards and Laura Jones Ferguson.

Tom attended Central Elementary School in Ironton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He retired from VanWyk Trucking as a truck driver. He was a member of the Glory Bound Church in Ashland and was of the Baptist/Pentecostal faith. Tom completed several hours and received diplomas in welding. He loved driving his big semi truck, driving for approximately 25 years until he had to retire because of his health. He loved to home cook, loved to spend quality time with his wife and his daughter “Sunshine” and his “Girl”- dog Bindi. For the years 2004, 2006 and 2007 he was accident free for the last trucking company he worked for which was VanWyk. He was a former member of the Eagles Club in Ft. Pierce, Florida.

In addition to his parents and adoptive parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Lynn Neville, GeorgeAnn Robbins and Kathryn Sue Meadows; special uncle, Johnny Jones; special aunt, Barbara Jean North; grandma, Leona “Lillian” Jones; and grandpa, James B. Jones.

Tom is survived by his wife, Teresa Powell Jones whom he married April 23, 2004, daughter, “Sunshine” Jerrie Jean Adams Jones of Ashland; three brothers, Robert “Bobby” Jones of Gallipolis, John “Pat” Jones of South Point and Michael “Mike” A. Jones of Ironton; four sisters, Lynda Lee Huddle of South Point, Connie Jewell Reed of Ironton, Mary and Harold “Smokey” Stover of Gallipolis and Sheila Heib of Point Pleasant, West Virginia; brother-in-law, Jerry Leo Powell Jr. of Ashland; special sister-in-law, Cassy Powell of Ashland; and sisters-in-law, Content Alvord (Robert) and Susane Powell both of Ashland.

Robert Spence

Robert W. Spence, of South Buffalo, New York, formerly of Kitts Hill, passed away Sept. 29, 2015. He was the dearest father of Jessica L., Robert A. Spence and Randal Cade; grandfather of Alexis Marie Cade; son of the late Orville F. and Cynthia P. (Harbolt) Spence; brother of Katherine J. (late Larry) Gore; uncle of Nikki Gore; former husband of Pamela L. (Michael) Greene; loving companion of Shannon L. Markovich. No prior visitation.

Betty Lou Hackworth

Betty Lou Hackworth, 78, of South Point, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Jones officiating.
