Anna Markins

March 10, 1921 — Oct. 13, 2015

Anna Markins, 94, of South Point, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Decatur native was born March 10, 1921, a daughter of the late James and Sadie Ervin Russell.

Anna attended Decatur School and was a born again Christian. She was a waitress for the Hamburger Inn, the White Kitchen and retired from Lawrence County General Hospital.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by seven brothers, James, John, George, Enoch, Bob, Charles and Raymond Russell; and two sisters, Gracie Markins and Nell Malone.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Markins, of South Point; granddaughter, Teresa VanMeter, of Phoenix, Arizona; and great-grandson, Kyler VanMeter, of Phoenix, Arizona.

Patricia Wilson

April 25, 1962 — Oct. 16, 2015

Patricia Faye Wilson, 53, of Willow Wood, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at the Hospice House in Ashland, Kentucky. She was born on April 25, 1962, in Ironton. She worked at Symmes Valley Local Schools for 10 years until she retired in 1996. She enjoyed shopping, socializing, and being with family. She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Wilson; and her brother, Clarence Donald Wilson.

She is survived by her mother, Olena Wilson, of Pedro; one brother, Danny (Vickie) Wilson, of Scottown; one sister, Donna (John) Sheppard, of Willow Wood; niece, Michelle (Steve) Slone, of Gallipolis; a nephew, Ryan (Kimilee) Wilson, of Willow Wood; a niece, Julie (Eric) Dillon, of Willow Wood; a niece, Kristie (Steve) Owens, of Patriot; a nephew, Dustin Wilson, of Scottown; a niece, Michaela Sheppard, of Willow Wood; a nephew, Jarod Sheppard, of Willow Wood; several great-nieces and nephews; and three very special friends, Daniel Wilburn, of Willow Wood, and Blake and Caden Neal of Kitts Hill.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Eddie Neel officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. with burial at Wilgus-Fairview Cemetery. Hazel Louise Spencer, 83, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.
