CHESPEAKE — Two Halloween-themed events are scheduled for this week at Chesapeake High School.
The annual Spooktacular is set to take place from 7-9 p.m. tonight and is aimed at children from preschool to sixth grade. The event will feature games, crafts, a haunted hallway, a book reading and free concessions.
The event will host 38 booths from local businesses and organizations.
The cost of admission is $2. Proceeds for the Spooktacular will be donated to a charitable cause., Kerry Carrico, reading and technical teacher at the school, said.
While the Spooktacular is geared toward younger children, those looking for something more frightening are invited to attend an event Saturday night.
The Haunted Asylum is set to take place from 8-10 p.m. at the high school.
The cost admission is $5 and the event serves as a fundraiser for a student trip to New York City.
Carrico said the asylum event will feature a pre-filmed storyline, will be scarier than the Spooktacular and is geared more toward older kids, teens and adults
Both events are open to the general public.
