Ceramics exhibit to open at OUS on Thursday

A new exhibit is set to open on Thursday at the art gallery at the Dingess Technology Center at Ohio University southern.

The ceramics work of Kaname Takada will be on display from Nov. 5 to Dec 10 at the gallery.

Takada, a resident of Upper Arlington, is a professor of fine arts and teaches ceramics at the Columbus College of Art and Design. His work is represented at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the Zanesville Museum of Art, the Lamar Dodd Art Center and has been exhibited internationally.

He is the co-founder of StudioTakada, which specializes in patterns of slip decoration for stoneware and earthenware.

The pieces displayed in the OUS show are of a functional nature and, while works of art, are items that could be used, Dennis W. Stewart, the gallery’s coordinator said.

An opening reception for Takada will be held at 6 p.m. at the gallery on Thursday. Admission is free and open to the public.
