Lawrence road projects set for 2016
CHESAPEAKE — Work on the drainage project on Rockwood Avenue is about halfway finished and is expected to wrap up by early December.
Replacements are under way for more than than 41 sites for culverts or pipes, 14 catch basins and 11 manholes from Symmes Creek bridge to the village limits, just below the Chesapeake Community Center, in order to prevent chronic flooding.
Kathleen Fuller, public information officer for the Ohio Department of Transportation District 9, said the project has experienced a few minor delays from bad weather, but still is on track.
“Overall, it’s going well,” she said. “Things should be finished by the end of the year.”
Fuller said the construction season is winding down, but ODOT has several projects lined up for next year, including work on rock removal and barrier walls on U.S. Route 52 near the Ashland bridges, set to begin in February, and resurfacing on State Route 650, culvert replacements on State Route 141, a bridge replacement on State Route 7 near Chesapeake and resurfacing on State Route 243, all set to begin in spring.
Meanwhile, work will continue on the Ironton-Russell bridge through the next year.
