The clinic, which is open to the community from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is being hosted by the pharmacy of the Proctorville Kroger.

The Wyngate is located at 7494 County Road 107, across from the Lawrence County Fairgrounds.

Zostavax is recommended by the U.S. Center for Disease control to prevent shingles.

Vaccination is also advised for the prevention of pneumonia, of which older adults are particularly at risk.

Both vaccines are covered by Medicare and most insurance plans. Those without coverage will be charged a modest fee, Kroger said in a news release.

“Most people 65 and older need their pneumonia vaccine updated,” Mike Marcum, the pharmacist at Proctorville Kroger who will administer the vaccines said.
