Special needs deer hunt scheduled
Activities to take place Friday and Saturday
Special Needs Youth Sportsmen Inc. will conduct its annual deer hunting event and banquet for interested Special Needs Youth on Friday and Saturday at the Collins Career and Technical Center at Getaway.
Friday afternoon activities begin at the school at 3 p.m. After meeting with SNYS volunteers, all will caravan to the school’s nearby shooting range. At the range, the activities will include shooting range practice and safety education. Pizza will be served at the range or immediately following range activities when all will re-convene at the school.
Actual hunting will take place all day Saturday during the Ohio youth deer hunting special season which is open to youth aged 17 and under. Youth who have recently turned 18 may hunt only if their hunting licenses were obtained prior to turning 18.
The free banquet for all will be on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. There will be free games and prizes given away to the participants at the banquet.
A youth hunting license and deer permit are required and all Ohio hunting regulations will be strictly followed. All equipment and materials will be furnished for all participants.
