Herd’s Reaves earns special teams honor

IRVING, Texas — Marshall punt returner Deandre Reaves was named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday following the Thundering Herd’s 52-0 win over FIU Saturday afternoon.
Reaves ripped off a 69-yard punt return for touchdown near the end of the first quarter to give Marshall a 21-0 lead. He also finished the day with five catches, 31 yards and a 10-yard TD catch from his slot receiver position. Currently, he is eighth nationally with 13.69-yard average, a figure that leads Conference USA.
The Thundering Herd (9-2 overall, 6-1 C-USA) is back in action Friday, Nov. 27, at Western Kentucky (8-2, 6-0) for a noon ET/11 a.m. CT kick (FOX Sports 1) versus the Hilltoppers.
The winner will play in the Conference USA Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 5, versus the winner of the Louisiana Tech (7-3, 5-1)/Southern Mississippi (7-3, 5-1), a game that is slated for Saturday, Nov. 28, at noon ET (FOX Sports Net).
