FRANKLIN FURNACE — Talk about using a team offense.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings had 12 different players score as they downed the Green Lady Bobcats 62-37 on Monday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Kaitlyn Payne had 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 steals to lead the balanced attack.

“We got to play a lot of people and we played pretty well. Green played hard the whole game. Green came out tough but we finally got going and took over the game in the second and third quarters,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Alvin Carpenter.

Jensyn Shepherd scored 8 of her 9 points in the first quarter to help negate 8 points by Green’s Kaylynn Blizzard as the Lady Vikings took a 15-11 lead.

But Breanna Brumfield had 5 points in the second quarter and the defense held Green to just 6 points as Symmes Valley opened up a 34-17 halftime lead.

Payne erupted for 10 of her points in the third quarter as the Lady Vikings (1-1, 1-0) blew the game wide-open and took a 50-20 lead.

Green outscored Symmes Valley 17-12 in the fourth quarter as Blizzard had 11 of her game-high 23 points.

The Lady Vikings had 23 assists with Brumfield dishing out 7 and Payton Walsh 6. Shepherd and Maddie Scott had 6 rebounds each while Meranda Hayes came up with 6 steals.

Symmes Valley plays at Beaver Eastern on Monday.
