Linda Gool

Nov. 5, 1956 — Nov. 28, 2015

Linda Sue Hill Gool, 59, of Ashland, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, Nov. 28, 2015, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 5, 1956, in Ashland, a daughter Gertie Barker Hill, of Grayson, Kentucky, and the late Reverend Willard Ed “Jiggs” Hill.

Linda attended Heritage Freewill Baptist Church. She was a 1974 graduate of Boyd County High School and was a sales manager at Transamerica Insurance Company. She enjoyed working with crafts, riding motorcycles with her husband and babysitting her grandson.

In addition to her mother, those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Brian Alan Gool, of Ashland; two daughters, Rachel Faye Gool and Stephanie Rae Meenach and husband Ryan, of Ashland; brother, Keith Hill and wife Cindy, of Denton, Kentucky; sisters, Pat Nolte and husband Mick of Ashland, and Debbie Hall, of Catlettsburg; and a beloved grandson, Jaxon Alan Meenach.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home, 13th Street Chapel, with pastor Ed Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Clarence Horner

Oct. 16, 1929 — Nov. 26, 2015

Clarence A. Horner, 86, of Ironton, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at his residence. The Scioto County native was born Oct. 16, 1929, a son of the late Charles and Christine Fraley Horner. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Julia Aguayo Horner, whom he married July 23, 1955.

Mr. Horner was a graduate of Green High School and retired in 1986 from National Mines Service, where he was a machinist. He was a member of the Ohio Furnace Enterprise Baptist Church, where he was a trustee, taught Sunday School and drove the church bus. He loved to worship the Lord. His hobbies included carpentry, hunting, trapping, antique cars, spending time outdoors walking in the woods and being with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean (Fred) Botkins; and nine siblings.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Ruth (Ken) Virgin, of Portsmouth; three sons, Darrell (Carol) Horner, of Bucyrus, Scott (Jeanie) Horner, of Leesburg, Florida, and Dan (Kim) Horner, of Wheelersburg; a brother, Jerry (Edna) Horner of Ironton; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at the Ohio Furnace Enterprise Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Lavender and the Rev. Larry Lavender officiating. Burial will follow in Buckeye Cemetery and visitation will be from 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the church. Phillips Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Joe Edwards

Joe Kevin Edwards, 58, of South Point, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at Pleasant Valley Hospital, Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens. Gretta Whitley

Gretta Faye Whitley, 84, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by the Rev. Charles Case. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. M. Gene Nance

M. Gene Nance, 82, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. He is survived by his wife, Lois Hayes Nance. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by Minister Barry Kelley. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery, Chesapeake.
