Quartet lead Titans by Pointers in opener

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Notre Dame Titans had four players in double figures as they beat the South Point Pointers 67-51 on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

Hattachal Buttayotee had a game-high 22 points to lead the Titans. Sam Kayser scored 17 points, Trevon Turner 11 and Aaron Bazler 10 points.

South Point was led by Elijah Adams with 15 points and Tayshaun Fox with 14. Jared Whitt added 11 points for the Pointers who made six 3-pointers.

Notre Dame jumped in front 19-3 in the first quarter and the Pointers couldn’t recover.

The lead was 39-16 at the half before the Pointers cut the deficit to 50-39 after three quarters.
