CHESAPEAKE — The Chesapeake Community Center will soon be sporting some upgrades.

The center was allocated $30,000 by the Ironton-Lawrence Community Action Organization from a $180,000 grant from the state of Ohio.

The money will go to make improvements to recreational facilities, which will include eight park benches, two sets of bleachers, a bike rack, a handicapped accessible picnic table, a large outdoor grill and 12 planter boxes for community gardens, Cindy Anderson, the community development director of the CAO, said.
