This game could have gone either way. It went the wrong way.

The St. Joseph Female Flyers went to overtime before losing 50-46 to the Trimble Lady Tomcats on Saturday.

The deciding factor proved to be free throws. Trimble made 12-of-25 while the Female Flyers only converted 3-of-13.

“We didn’t make our free throws, but Trimble played really well. They gave a good effort and they deserved to win,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.

Lynsey Booker had a big game in defeat for St. Joseph (3-3). She had 21 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals and 3 assists. Megan Riley added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

The game was tied 13-13 after the first quarter as Riley had 6 points and Booker 5 while Kish and Murphy scored 6 each.

Each team scored 10 points in the second quarter and the game remained tied at the half, 23-23.

Morgan Turner scored all 5 of her points in the third quarter as St. Joseph took a 34-31 lead.

Booker had 6 points in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough as Trimble rallied to tie the game at 43.
