PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons didn’t play well and scored 77 points.

Imagine what might happen when they do play well.

Despite a bad shooting night, the Lady Dragons routed the Portsmouth Lady Trojans 77-37 on Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We scored a lot of points, but we didn’t play great by any stretch of the imagination. That was probably our worst shooting performance,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan.

“But we had some different kids step up and make some shots. We’re young and we have to learn to stay focused and maintain our intensity.”

Jackie Wagner came off the bench to score 16 points and Emily Chapman had 14 points as 10 different Lady Dragons scored.

Jasmine Eley scored 14 points and Wesleigh Jackson added 11 to pace Portsmouth (2-6, 1-4).

Taylor Perry scored all 8 of her points in the first quarter as Fairland raced to a 20-2 lead.

Chapman scored 12 of her points and Wagner added 9 as the lead grew to 45-14 at the half.

Taylar Wilson had all 8 of her points and Wagner scored 7 points in the third quarter as Fairland built a 61-22 cushion.

Fairland plays at River Valley on Wednesday, Dec. 30.
