Restaurant raising awareness in January

Benefit planned to aid anti-stalking efforts

 

CHESAPEAKE — January is National Stalking Awareness Month and Chateau D’Italia is planning an event to help bring awareness to the issue.

A benefit will be hosted on Jan. 23 at the Chesapeake restaurant, featuring speakers on the issue. Donations will be collected to benefit Contact 24 Hour Rape Crisis Center in Huntington.

“I am really passionate on this one,” owner Toni Karle said. “We hope to bring it to the forefront and raise awareness. Stalking is definitely a dangerous crime, and people are getting away with it, whether through cyberstalking or in person.

The event will feature a five-course Italian dinner and musical entertainment by Tom Cannon.
